About Lisa

I have been interested in stained glass since I was a child.  I love the way the light shines through it, I first noticed it in church.  I came to stained glass later in life, I was in my later 20’s.  I started taking classes in Vermont and made a small suncatcher and a panel of an iris.  I was hooked.

Since that time, I have taken many, many classes in stained glass, glass fusing, mosaics, jewelry making, glass blowing, and lampwork.  I like all aspects of working with glass but my favorite continues to be working with stained glass.

Over the years I have taught many classes in stained glass, mosaics, holiday ornaments, etching.  I have also purchased a lot of glass.  I had the opportunity to purchase a building recently in my hometown and give it a new life; a place where I could do something I love and share it with others.  I am indeed lucky.

My main job is teaching at Mt. Greylock High School.  I teach art and business.  While these two areas seem very different from each other, they have a lot of overlapping connections.  I have had the opportunity to work with and meet a lot of different people who have shared their own art mediums with me as well.  Welcome to Mendel’s Stained Glass Art Studio.  My hope is that others will enjoy the space and help me bring their art to life as well.
